Education, as business, goes in line with the expression that if one thinks education is expensive, then try ignorance.

The entrepreneurial mindset of Rossana Ladaga Llenado has been like creamer to coffee as far as her value for education empowerment is concerned. Her putting up Ahead Learning Systems back in 1995 has placed her, literally, ahead of the pack in the tutoring business.

To stress the point, Llenado has been cited with honors by the likes of the International Association of Business Communicators and the Philippine Marketing Association, and hailed by the business community as among the 75 Most Admired Entrepreneurs in the Philippines, not to mention being in the pool of Entrepreneur 10 by the magazine of the same name.

Always crafting business models affecting the field in various positive ways, she is currently in the forefront of pushing for online tutorials with the introduction of Ahead Online, which aims to be one of the world’s top test preparation services.

“We aspire to bring quality tutorials to children without them needing to leave the house. It saves time, gas, and lets you worry not about finding the right tutor house,” shared the sweet-smiling mother of four.

Ahead now offers Online University of the Philippines College Admission Test (Upcat) Review praised for being a first in the country. The format surely won the hearts of youngsters hoping to pass the coveted Upcat, the latest of which is set this October 5 and 6. With others like the Ateneo College Entrance Test (September 21 and 22) and De La Salle College Admission Test (October 13 to 20) coming, too, Ahead is delightfully back in business-as-usual mode. Few can equal the satisfaction of being able to run a good business that creates better thinkers and future industry leaders.

For several years involved in the training and development of school principals and teachers, Llenado is likewise helping solve the crucial problem of Filipinos’ dreaded phobia over math. She sits as president of EduAction Inc., which operates Yuxin Singapore Math Center.

That Ahead is labeled as the most awarded tutorial and review center in the Philippines can be largely attributed to her grip of business sense, especially in weathering storms. She revealed having made it through the rain in the midst of the landscape-changing K to 12 program.

“I always believed in keeping a good set of teachers as backbone of running a school or a tutorial center,” she noted upon hearing that a school that had enrollees for decades just succumbed to closure.

Thanks to her way of thinking, Ahead is apparently different approach, program, and style has earned the center a strong reputation of being able to effectively guide students to make it to the top universities in the Philippines.

Llenado added, “To me this is more than a business, but also an advocacy to empower the young to make the most of their abilities to excel. It’s part of nation-building and this is the best way I can contribute.”

Small wonder, a leading media company, included her in a special list of “Amazing Filipinas.”
